Pioneers Pinewood Derby 2024

Join us at the Pioneers Pinecar Derby

When: March 16, 2023, 4:00-6:30pm

Where: Immanuel Lutheran Church basement (1380 1st Ave, Gibbon, MN 55335)

Who: Children, young adults and adults who want to build and race a pine car.

What’s involved:  Design and paint yourself a pine car and get ready to race it on the 16th!

Never done this before? We will have a build workshop on March 9th from 1-3pm at the Johnson farm just south of Gibbon.

Who are the Pioneers?

We are a Christian youth group organization.  Anyone from our community can join, no matter what church you attend or if you don’t attend any church at all.

Grounded in Scripture, our local Pioneer program provides an avenue for all children ages 4+ to develop life skills and to become thankful, service-oriented young adults in their families, church, and community. It also provides opportunities for them to pursue various interests such as:

  • Citizenship
  • Leadership
  • First Aid
  • Nature
  • Agriculture
  • Cooking/Baking
  • Crafts
  • Music
  • History
  • Photography
  • Camping
  • Canoe/kayaking
  • Activities: group games, swimming, snowshoeing, CC skiing,  hiking, bowling,  skating, sewing, pinecar derby, woodworking, ETC!
The district and national levels of the organization also offer wonderful events each year (like weekend and week long camps!) to get to know other Pioneers in our area and region.
There is a yearly fee of $6 per child to join in on all the activities.
